Jump starting problem.

Featured Replies

Recently bought 2010 Octavia 1.6 tdi. Battery died and AA jump started me with power pack. However glow-plug light now flashes and 2 other dashboard lights are on . Skoda dealer says the AA have blown the binnacle and I should not jump start a Skoda with a power pack!!! Local used Skoda garage has never heard of such a problem. Any thoughts anyone?

Have to admit I had something similar with another car. AA jumped it and instrument binicle went haywire. Gauges all reading off lights on Didn't notice until AA had gone and I signed the 'all ok get out of jail free' sheet

Thankfully sorted that one after a bit of hunting and found that pulling a couple of fuses for the instrument cluster for 10 minutes reset it all.

May be something similar might work if you can work out which fuses to pull. Have your radio code handy too in case it is on the same feed.

There are a lot of caveats around to say be careful when jumping, but what are you supposed to do when it is flat and you need to get somewhere?
