Recording mouse/key strokes then playing back or doing again.

Featured Replies

I'm looking for some software to assist with a presentation.

I want something that can record then repeat a series of mouse clicks and keystrokes.

Any ideas?

You could download a 30-day trial of Captivate from macromedia.com.

Does that create a video of me doing it or actually repeat the moves ?

Have a look at THIS. It's something I did with Captivate a while ago.

It might give you some ideas.

All the ones I've done produced an .swf video for web download. It records a voiceover at the same time if you want.

Windows 3.1 had a recorder that repeated your moves on an instance of the actual application, rather than showing a look-alike, if you know what I mean. Don't think it works with 32-bit Windows, though.

I have a "personal" keylogger and screenshot (purchased) program. It might be worth mentioning that as info is recorded, it remains in the files and is thus potentially available to hackers. Some such programs upset security programs also, being seen as a trojan. It's worth making sure that a program is not recording data if the PC is used for any personal (e.g. banking) things.

I don't know Captivate, so perhaps others can comment on this aspect.

Mine is extremely useful as an aide memoir when I'm changing settings etc, but not much use for presentations I'm afraid.
