Rattle cans

Featured Replies

I have 4 parking sensors I need to paint. Colour is Black Magic. Would you use a chip stick or can? If a can where is the best place to buy for colour match?

Ps local bodyshop is £10 + vat for each sensor

You need the thinnest layer of paint you can apply, a touchup pen maybe too thick. If the paint is applied to thick then the sensor will not work correctly, it should a single coat of primer, then paint only.

No lacquer?

Depends on the paint I guess, you can get paint that does not require lacquer thats a close enough to black magic. The key is that any layers applied must be the thinnest possible.

My Audi has a squint, 3 silver and 1 black sensor on the front, as I did not want to risk painting a brand new OEM sensor.

So the body shop want £40 to do them?

I'd leave it to the pros for that price.

Will cost £18? For materials anyway, going off £6 a tin for primer, paint and lacquer. (Example)

If you use a rattle can, stick it in a bowl of hot water for about 5 mins to warm the paint inside before you try and spray it.
