Wheel cleaning question

Featured Replies

Hi all.

You'll be relieved to know I'm running out of questions. :)

But here's one.

Had my tyres changed and wheels balanced, new balance weights fitted, old ones removed but they leave behind the remainder of the sticky backing pad which looks awful.

Any thoughts as to a procedure / materials that will safely remove the residual nasty without damaging the wheel?

I normally use lighter fluid as it rips off glue. Then use some sealant or wax after to protect the surface as it will remove all protection from the paint

Tar and Glue remover if you have some

I use Autosmart Tardis..very effective

Tar and Glue remover if you have some

Currently using Autobrite Just the Tonic - Tar and Glue remover for such duties.  Quite effective indeed

AutoSmart, Auto Finesse, Valet Pro etc - all do a similar product.... and work well from the reviews i have read.

White spirit will break the glue bits down, as stated then apply some protective wax of some sort, afterwards.

I use autosmart tardis. But I find it is still a pain to remove. Takes a bit of time and effort

Good stuff gents, when the wheels come off, I will set about them using some (if not all) of your suggestions.

Thanks again one and all... :)
