What year was the 2ltr CR unit fitted from, and what problems are there if any. also was the oil problem rectified on the 2ltr PD unit in later years

09/59 IIRC.

The oil pump drive problem never affected the 2.0 PD Octavia engines at any point. Only 2.0 engines where the oil pump was driven by a balance shaft had this problem, a setup which was never used in the Octavia.

The only Skoda affected by the oil pump issue was the mk1 Superb 2.0 TDI.

The 2.0 CR can be found in the late 58plate octavias also, I have one of the last 2.0 PDs cant fault the engine never misses a beat

Something else to bear in mind is that although the VRS switched to common rail in late 2008, the rest of the range was PD until autumn 2010.
