DSG got stuck in D3

Featured Replies

Hey guys. Pulled out of a junction earlier with no problems until I reached 3rd. Foot pushing accelerator but appears gear was stuck. Felt like the brakes were on because I jolted forward in my seat. Nothing flashed on maxi. This happened for around 4 seconds then it auto changed to 4th. Drove another 10 miles after this with no other problems. Anybody expierenced anything similar to this?

My suggestion would be it thought you were wanting to hold the gear longer than normal.  Which mode were you in? Did it just hold the revs steady or did it keep increasing?

mine has stuck temporarily in a gear before, I have noticed it not change down, even though the display said it had.... only lasted a very short time and went away ....

I ignored it :)

The dsg can have a cough and fart from time to time, generally they behave themselves, if it's in warranty still and you are particularly concerned ask your dealer to check it out, they are likely to find nothing but if something goes a miss later on you have a history to say well it's not been right for a while, I bought it in on x date and was informed everything was as should be. I have so little confidence in my dealer I recon I could take it in because a door card has fallen off and they would plugin for diagnostic and obviously no fault code would show, so they would hand keys back with a smile an tell it's all fine Mr Wright, we couldn't find anything wrong it... But the door card is still hanging off, yes sir but there is no fault coed so we will have to wait for the problem to develop so we can fault it more accurately, Doh, I'll fix it myself...

My apologies for being cynical, I sure there are still good car mechanics out in the world somewhere, I just haven't found a good Skoda one yet.

Always be sure to report to a Dealership and make sure they take a report on the Computer.

But more iimportantly when a DSG or Engine plays up, be sure that Skoda UK Customer Services are informed,

Reason being they are always claiming,

'We have no reports of that issue.',  'Never heard of that before'.  yet also,  'they all do that'.

There is a Service Campaign on many of the DQ200 7Speed Twin Dry Clutch gearbox,

and MidlifecrisisT has had the actions taken on his DSG,

Yet Skoda UK are not following up to check if Customers are satisfied with the Work done, or have had issues,

expecting that people will get back to them if there are issues,

or more likely hoping that they will not.

*If they do report it at a Dealership Service desk they will say, that is just normal, or if they do check it,

'There are no Fault Codes. It will be just one of those things.  a VW thing, 3 Monkeys, See, Hear & Say nothing'.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.   Ignore it, it never happened.

Not all Owners / Drivers even know about the Service Campaign in the UK, since Skoda / VW are not advertising it.

Skoda could at least do an announcement like this from VW,

better than nothing.

Maybe Motoring Magazines should run an Article as prominent about the Service Campaign as

they did about the one saying No UK Recall required.

I had something similar happen a few weeks back and had it checked out but Skoda said they could find nothing at fault.

They did say it had been logged on their system should the fault happen again.

Best to get to checked out and like George said get it logged.

Revs were steady throughout. No increase. Very strange! Could hardly hear the engine. At one point I thought engine had cut out.

Cheers guys. Will contact skoda to make them aware. It is out of warranty now but like you say, still wise to make them aware I guess. I've spoken to them a couple of times in the past to ask them if my DSG is due service but they said from my vin there is nothing outstanding...

Only out of the Original Manufacturers Warranty in the UK.

VW / Skoda / Audi /Seat did a World Wide Recall,  yet Excluded the UK & other places in Europe!!!

The Extended Warranties in Other World Regions, & they even did proper Service Campaign s in other Countries with

Climates not unlike parts of Europe, changing the MCU as a matter of course,

but then that was just a small number of vehicles.

So now that VW recognise the possible problems, and paid for the Service Campaign work on the DQ200's,

they still have responsibility for their Design , Manufacturing, Parts or Fluids failures for a long time into the future,

just like with the Engines.

Corporate Responsibilities for Drivers, passengers and the general publics Safety where they made mistakes.

How long out of warranty ? Too long to get the Skoda/Car care plan warranty ?

Was out in October 14 mate

Have you asked Skoda UK Customer Services in writing about the DSG Service Campaign.?

Give them the Registration Number & VIN so that no error is occurring on if your MCU needs checked & the Oil Change & Software Update,

because it is very strange which periods of Manufacturing between 2009-2013 need the changes.

VW /Skoda should really publish the series of VIN which are possibly the vehicles with DSG which are filled with Synthetic Oil,

or just get a VIN Checker on a Skoda UK Official website.
