Getting worried now

Featured Replies

I'm due to pick my Octy II 2.TDi Elegance next Friday. The fleet company arranged for it to come in 2 weeks early to avoid delays. So I thought i'd ring the sales guy to arrange the pickup time and to advise him i'd want a few settings changed on VAG-COM.

He eventually worked out who I was. I said 'I understand from the fleet company that my car has arrived'. He said 'Dunno, maybe it has, what's it look like?'. That didn't inspire confidence but it got worse.

I told him the date i'd like to pick up the car. He said 'The car won't be here'. 'It will be with the fleet company' he said. I said 'If it's all the same i'd like to do what my colleagues did and pick it up from you directly'. He said 'Do you think there will be a problem ?'. I said 'No, but i'd like to check the condition of the car and ensure all the ordered options are there' before accepting it'. He said 'You ordered options?'

I then pointed out that i'd send him an email with details of the VAG-COM changes to convenience settings that I wanted. He said 'Well I can get a mechanic to look at it I suppose but we don't normally do this'

It's good to know the customer still comes first.

Oh dear. Perhaps he was just having a bad day ?

Hopefully he wasn't having a bad day when he placed the order with Skoda!

Well.... I doubt he would have instant access to your email or your spec when picking up the phone, but it's surprising that he would show apparently little interest (they can't sell or take delivery of one every day methinks).

What about ringing again, saying you will send a copy of your emailed spec and someone should have a look at it and check the details; also that you will call him back in nhours, by which time you would expect someone to have better knowledge of the position?

Just a thought.

I'm not really worried because the model, colour and spec etc is agreed with the fleet Co. and if the car doesn't reflect this in anyway i'll be rejecting it. It will then be up to the Fleet Co. and the dealership between them to arrange a temporary replacement car of similar spec for me to use until they manufacture the car correctly. It would be a real bitch though. The car is sitting in their car park right now. Maybe I could sneak a peak.

Looking forward to getting it though. You don't see too many Octy II's on the roads yet here so it should get a little bit of attention anyway. I pulled up behind one tonight. That boot is huge and I love those big tail lights. It was of course a taxi.

:) Just make sure you've bought loads of toothpaste beforehand.

The grin factor you understand ;)

:D
