Remap is definitely the way to go, Will be getting it done soon once I decide where I'm going with exhaust and dpf etc later on, is it worth upgrading intercooler etc

  • Had a laugh to myself about this, remember changing the interior on my lupo in the dark. Let's just say my passenger and drivers seats didn't look right. Both in the wrong place, all bolted in and rea

  • I agree with the remap, H&R lowering springs and rear antiroll bar too. Changes into a different car like it should have been from factory. Clean car looks good in red. Looking forward to seeing

Going to use a better app on my mrs galaxy phone dam windows apps are pretty shoddy lol

I haven't done anything else performance wise, panel filter which probably did nothing and a remap. I wouldn't waste money on intercooler or dpf delete unless it fails of course. Car runs perfectly now and can surprise a lot of things which is good.

Bet the rear arb makes a difference too, Can really feel it needs it sometimes

Havent seen a failed dpf thread on here yet seen sensors failing but thats about it lol

The rear arb and the lowering springs work really well together. Where are you located ? I seen your car on gumtree the other day thought I'd seen the reg somewhere before.

Pontypridd, he was advertising it in cardiff but it was registered in cilfynyndd i can see the back of his house from my living room window lol

Aww it did say Barry on the ad, thought I may have seen it in Swansea before maybe or it's a different one

Dunno seemed a bit odd he said the address in cardiff was his base? Thats when i asked him where its registered it was different and i decided to make the sale there instead he still hasnt got back to me with email to say finance was cleared luckily i paid for a check and they confirmed it had been cleared

Did a few 0-60 runs this morning was getting around 10s which is ok then took it for a spirited drive through some country lanes and the difference with the extra torque in 2nd and 3rd gear corners was brilliant think brakes need modding first though as i cooked them quite quickly

Got me a new head unit, Its one of those chinese ones but this one works really well ive had one of those very cheap ones that crash all the time on my previous car so far this one is excellent except its ment for a vw so has red buttons and a vw animation after the skoda logo but ill take that on the chin sounds pretty good too

Hmm, these all seem to be mods I'm interested in. Keep us updated with the head unit.

Got the VRS last night and it made it pretty clear that I won't be getting a box for the TDi- it just won't compare to the VRS and if I want to go for a fast drive I'll not take the diesel.

I will do not much spare time at the minute to play with it how you finding the the gearbox on the vrs started looking at polo gti's then ended up with derv monte lol

Sport mode on the gearbox is pretty ferocious, it's good. Then in D you just forget about it- had the odd moment where I almost left foot brake coming up to junctions and I'm expecting a clutch though!

I think for most of my driving in the Monte the £200 spent on a new head unit would make more difference than £200 on a tuning box- especially now our second sat nav is on the blink.

One thing that's really nice inside the VRS that I may do to the Monte is LED interior lights. It shouldn't make a difference but it does- very tempted to do it to the Monte.

I haven't done anything else performance wise, panel filter which probably did nothing and a remap. I wouldn't waste money on intercooler or dpf delete unless it fails of course. Car runs perfectly now and can surprise a lot of things which is good.

Does anyone know if the intercooler on the Monte Carlo is the same size as the one on the vRS?

And car looks great by the way, will be checking this thread for updates!

Does anyone know if the intercooler on the Monte Carlo is the same size as the one on the vRS

Totally different shape as far as I'm aware, not sure about width for pipework though

Just bagged myself a brand new spare monte alloy with tyre for £50. problem is its going to cost me the best part of a tank of diesel to pick it up but i didnt have a spare anyway and it will make refurbing the others easier :)

Never realized there were two different coloured alloys thought mine were black but this ones blackerer nice snug fit in the wheel well too

Dont know which colour to go for when i do the refurbs the orignal colour or whatever the the darker one is the colours codes im finding are conflicting so it may be luck of the draw lol

Think the darker ones are off the tech models?
