Quick question for you experienced folk! I've got a '99 TDI SLX estate, only bought it a couple of weeks ago, when I got it I was aware that it'd been stood up for a little while and the rear brakes needed some attention (the caliper was sticking on the test drive so I got some cash knocked off to bear this in mind). Just had it in at my local dealer however for a checkover and they've quoted me

Just picked the car up from the dealer having got the stuff all done this afternoon, looking at the receipt actually it's not bad at all. Apparently they took the calipers to bits at the back and they didn't need replacing, just a bit of a clean. Now all sorted. New discs and pads all round (funny, they didn't mention doing the fronts on the phone although I suspected they might need doing anyway) - plus oil service, all in for 465 quid - a lot more reasonable! Plus the note on the invoice said it's only the bushes that are worn for the front ARB, not the actual ARB itself. In which case 110 seems a bit steep for just that, I might have a bash at doing it myself...

Well the service invoice says "Advise: Front anti roll bar bushes worn/noisy". Shouldn't be a hard job to change these myself, tho might get a second opinion from friendly mechanic bloke that lives down the end of my road.
