what a positive website !

Featured Replies

Although I've been a member for a few years,I haven't been active since we sold my wife's Fabia a couple of years back.

I've had a couple of insignias and been a regular visitor to insignia enthusiast forum.

What I've noticed so far is that skoda owners are very positive about their cars and this is in direct contrast to insignia owners who tend to whinge and moan about their cars. Obviously this is a generalisation and I have to say that I didn't have many problems with my 2 insignias that did 150k miles between them in the last 3 years.

I am looking forward to getting my Superb Elegance estate 170 DSG in a couple of weeks and the positivity on this forum leaves me thinking I've made the right choice!

Did you mean to put this in motorsport forum,? :D

No thought it was going on general chat. Could mods move it?

I've moved it.  You must have clicked an extra link as the motorsport is a sub forum of general car chat. :)

I'm thinking it's gonna be a very quick car, only got to test drive a 140 manual, but I've had Dsg on passages before and they use the torque pretty well.

Passats

Yes, it certainly feels quick when you want it and very smooth. The CR engine is somewhat smoother than the PD I had in the octavia vrs before. It's quieter too (well, inside anyway).

DSG generally changes gear a lot better than I ever could. Though it makes a few odd choices as it's not aware of the conditions coming up.

I agree.  Like all auto boxes the DSG reacts to what is happening now rather than to what is about to happen.  This can result in an up-change being almost immediately followed by a change-down back into the gear it just left.  However, after driving a DSG for 22 months and 20K miles I doubt I will ever go back to a manual.  However, I don't think I would have DSG without the steering wheel paddles.

A friend of mine has owned since new a now almost 5 year old A4 Avant SE CR(140) and that he is considering changing and I am trying to convince him to at least test drive a car like yours.

Corrected for you.  :D

I must agree about the members on here ... their glasses definitely seem to be half full rather than half empty ... :) I have only been an owner for nearly a month and a member for a couple of weeks,.. guys could not have been more helpful answering my mostly mundane questions.

Great cars ... Great club... Great members.

I too think it is an excellent community.

As you say - helpful in solving even the most tedious and smallest of problems.
