Does anybody know whether the grill has wider gaps on the newer scouts compared to a 57 octavia estate?

Yes it does, the facelift (FL) grill has fewer vertical bars than the pre-FL so I'd assume the gaps are therefore larger.

Can the FL grill only be retrofitted?

Found the 2009 onwards grill. Will that fit my mk2?

Anyone able to help before I buy?

Yes It is possible without any mechanical changes on hood etc.

 

But there is problem in bottom of grill. Pre-FL is more straight and FL has bottom of grill lower =>
