Clutch pedal on floor

Featured Replies

After a frantic call from the wife saying her clutch pedal has broke on her PD130 (Ibiza FR), I arrive to find that it's spat its hyd fluid out from the pipe that runs through the bulkhead. There's a big circle part in the middle of the pipe that has popped one of the sides off and dropped its o ring out.

Anyone heard of this problem before? Found a few examples of master and slave cylinders going, and broken pedals but nothing on the pipe bursting. Looks like a pig of a job to get the pipe out too!

Isn't that the damper valve that's burst, I haven't heard of that happening before it must be a very rare failure, bad luck.

Aka clutch delay valve?

Is it all stock? No heavy aftermarket clutch and solid flywheel?

It is some form of restrictor, not listed as an individual part on any parts site I know of, only shows the pipe. I'll see what TPS say tomorrow. It looks like a nightmare to change the pipe so I might bodge it by taking the valve out and joining the pipes together and see how that fares. eBay item number 121401019160 is what the whole thing looks like.

The car is remapped from before we bought it but that's about it I think, the clutch has always been heavy in the 3 years and 40k of ownership, and slips when tramming it at max acceleration. Car is on 140k now.
