roomster ran away

Featured Replies

A few weeks after buying our roomster 3 TDi 80 in November 2014 my wife was driving in Wales down a steep hill. she had to pull in and brake for an oncoming car just before a left-hand switch back. when it was passed she released the brake and the car shot. forward and nearly went off the road. no one was injured but she was badly shocked. a couple of days later she drove the car again through Welsh countryside for several miles by herself with increasing confidence. the journey ended with her collecting me at the golf club. she parked in a space that was on a slight downward slope against the fence next to the road. cautos from the previous incident she entered the discs very slowly but at the last moment the car accelerated and she found herself with the front of the car hanging over the road and a 4 foot drop but wedged on the fence so she was able to get out safely. This time she was really shocked and she has not driven the car since.

she has over 30 years experience and is a very good driver. we have analysed both incidents repeatedly and know that the problem was not due to misuse of the foot controls.

There have been a couple of occasions since when I have been at a slow speed for example coming to a roundabout when the car inexplicably accelerated when I expected it to slow down.

We're hoping someone may be able to suggest what is happening.

Sorry, 'cautos' = cautious and 'discs' = space. So much for auto typing and not pending post again :-(

How to gain a poor reputation - 'pending' = previewing - my only excuse is I'm posting from my sick bed.

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds very dangerous, & like you need to contact VOSA and have the car taken for an Examination & Testing.

The Insurance Company should be arranging an Experts Inspection & Testing if not being done by a Police Examiner.

The car should not be driven until it is examined, and that should not be left in the hands of a Skoda Dealership.

Just curious manual or automatic gearbox

Glad she is ok cars can be fixed people not so easily
