little advice please

Featured Replies

hi there, my car had an mot test today and failed on a broken o/s coil spring that i am going to have replaced in the next phew days but is it best to get both front springs replaced or is it ok to just do the one that has snapped ?

cheers kev.

A similar thing happened with SWMBO Seat Altea and she had to get towed by the RAC to our local Indy as the spring stapped at the top and unwound itself and collapsed the suspension. He recommended to do both sides to keep the suspension balanced so it didn't feel/ perform diffetently going round left/right hand corners so that's what we did. Whether you do the same is up to you.

thanks for your reply,i see your point the car could feel deferent on a left hand bend than it dose on a right hand one thanks kev.

+1 for replacing both.

Dave

It is recommended to do both.

I broke one, and changed one (was moving the car on). Mechanic wasn't that concerned about doing one.

Care drove perfectly fine, didn't notice any difference at all.

Admittedly I didn't really notice anything with the broken spring either other than the noise.

If you're keeping the car a long time probably best to do both
