Professional DPF cleaning any good?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone on here has used or knows somebody who has used a professional DPF cleaning company. Have seen them mentioned on here before but I am curious to know if they are as good as they advertised. On their website it says they remove between 96-100% of soot and ash. If they are that effective then that should be a better, cheaper solution than removing it if and when it starts causing problems?

They are effective at removing the soot but you need to keep having it done regularly.

The process is effectively jet washing out the inside of the DPF and blasting out all of the soot and stored ash. The problem is that for some reason the DPF get's clogged up again very quickly so it should be viewed as a short-term fix.

So probably not worth doing, how quickly do they clogg up roughly? Would it be months or years?

I guess it very much varies on the amount of soot produced which itself will be determined by your driving style, journey types, speeds, mileage, fuel quality, engine wear and oil change intervals etc.

For the sake of £250 it would be worth a go, worse case scenario if it clogs again soon afterwards you can get it removed for around £450.

If only DPF removal and cleaning was as easy as this on cars!

Why not have a go yourself with a pressure washer, I've read it is a easy job, just remove the bit of exhaust pipe with DPF and give it a good blast out and refit.
