Intermittent Brake light activation when the car is parked

Featured Replies

My 2002 Octavia VRS has developed an annoying habit of the brake lights coming on when the car is locked and parked.

If not corrected in a reasonable time (by depressing the brake pedal), this flattens the battery completely.

This happens with no particular pattern or set of circumstances.

I am at a loss why this happens and how to fix it.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

My first point would be the brake pedal switch. Also get it plugged in to see if there are any fault codes. Hope that helps?

Brake pedal switch. Mine did this also. Just replace it as there cheap enough.

Would deffo advise replacing with genuine though, as some non OE parts throw errors.

The brake lights will also be lighting up unintentionally at other times when the car is being driven, so confusing motorists following you. As suggested replace the brake light switch ASAP.
