Does the airbag light mean none of my airbags will work or a specific one?

Featured Replies

Just came on. I know which one it is it's the wiring underneath the passenger seat that is faulty.

Gotta make a long journey soon and if I didn't get the time to sort it I was wondering if it meant that all my airbags wouldn't work in the case of an accident or only the one's that are faulty?

Thank you

I'm no expert but does that mean the airbag is unsafe and could go off unpredictably? I know that happened on a brand new volvo s40 I was driving once, closed the door and bang! That was down to faulty wiring. I would want it fixed ASAP.

Hmm not sure

The light came on previously and was on for a couple of months before I bothered checking it out

Cleaned the connectors from underneath the passenger seat, cleared the code and it didn't come on for a couple of weeks but came on again yesterday

Got the code read today and it came up with:

B1007 - Belt tensioner front (n154) passenger side circuit resistance above threshold

Tried cleaning the wiring contacts with electrical solvent cleaner then replugging in and clearing the code but that hasn't helped.

So does anyone know if all of them are disabled if I was to have a crash or only the specific one that is faulty?

Thanks

I am not saying this is correct

But

Iwould say that they wud all still work apart from the individual faulty one. If it was a plug then it would only affect that air bag. If it stopped them all from working then if you were in an accident they should all go off but from what I understand only affected ones do.

Correct me if I'm wrong

Surely its just a warning light... Could mean anything?

I've been driving for past 2/3 months with one on as my passenger seat wiring is dodgy, mines not gone off, it's to warn rather than anything but if you get the chance I'd sort the connector properly

I've had the code read so know what it is exactly. It was the same code as last time

What I want to know for sure is if the airbag light is on does this mean all airbags or only ones affected won't deploy in the case of an accident

Going on a long trip Sunday so don't have a chance to sort it before then but don't wanna risk the car if no air bags are going to work

It *might* also stop the associated airbags from working (seat/dash/curtain on the passenger side).

Probably not crash, just incase,..

If it was me I'd get it fixed ASAP, ignoring the long journey for a minute there is still the risk of a crash on a 'normal' local drive. Stats show that majority of accidents happen within 10miles of home address.

Makes sense really.

Doesnt matter where you're going, you have to spend a time within 10 miles to get there, and back.

Doesn't the error code suggest it is the seat belt pre-tensioner rather than the side airbag - could be wrong but aren't they on separate circuits as they operate independently.
