which Octavia to buy?

Featured Replies

Hi all I am looking to buy a new estate on solutions, I was thinking of an Elegance as I can not afford a VRS, I do about 10k a year, I wonder if anyone can suggest the best engine to get and if anyone has managed to bag a good deal lately, thanks for your help.

If you are only doing 10k take a look at the 1.4 petrol - it is a cracking engine in terms of power and economy

I quite like my 1.4. Powerful enough for a daily driver, decently efficient, not too expensive.

I'm just coming up to one year old and 10K on my 2014MY Elegance Combi 1.6TDi. This currently has zero VED due to it's emmisions. Great torquey engine with plenty of go. I think at 10K petrol and diesel break even. I'm sure I have seen someone post the math somewhere.

Try Carwow website to get a price and take it to your local dealer if you'd prefer to purchase it there.

It's not just about how many miles you will do but also your journey types etc.

If you do mainly short town trips then go for petrol (1.4 looks good to me!).

When we come to change our car there's no way we can get another diesel as a DPF just won't be suitable.

I think a 1.4 DSG would be perfect for us.

As above 1.4 petrol in either 140ps or 150ps whichever they are dishing out at the moment..........

of course I am not bias............... :D

Solutions hmm... Also worth seriously looking at contract lease as your only paying the depreciation anyway - have been some great deals and you might get a VRS if you really want one. Our scout deal works out as nine grand over 3 years for a car that is then worth about 11k apparently - we can't buy that car from the lease company, but I'd just go and buy a different one - ultimately around £20k for a £26k list car or we'll just re do a lease if not.

Seems some dealers really aren't aware of what leases are available through VW finance - our local one certainly wasn't and was suprised at the monthly cost. A higher died car also doesn't necessary cost more on lease as the depreciation is likely to be less. Our scout is cheaper than a £10k less new Fabia by £30 per month!
