ABS ESP and TPMS lights on

Featured Replies

Hello Folks,

My first post here. I have a 2007 Octavia MK2 1.9 DSG. My problem started after getting an aftermarket android unit installed. One of the shops messed up while testing the speakers and might have accidentally spliced in to the Wheel Speed sensor wire. After the installation i had a shop clear all the codes but they come back right away. I have no power steering now. The Steering light on my dash is Yellow. They diagnosed a faulty Rear Left Wheel Speed sensor and replaced it. But that didn't change anything. So they suggested a Wheel bearing, even though mine looks very clean. Not a scratch on the bearing (magnetic part/reluctor ring).

I had another guy test the signal from the sensor using a multimeter and he said that the sensor is fine. He suggested a new ABS control module.

I've also tested using VAGCOM and i can see the speed for all three sensors except the rear left one.

Would appreciate your help.

Thank you

I'd suspect the wire that was cut by the Android installer. In any event, you had a working car before you went to them, so IMO they broke it and it is their responsibility, not yours, to fix it!

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your reply. My only problem is the guy claims that the lights were on before he touched the car. I cleared them after the installation. However at the time my steering was working just fine. After a bit of argument, he agreed to do any wiring related to the issue but I know he doesn't have the right skills for it.

@softscoop,i Did suspect the same but if that's the case I should not get any voltage when measured near the abs unit?

Do you think I should run a separate wire from the sensor to the abs unit and see if that might change anything?

Thank you

Until you know what fault code is logged, you're just guessing, as lots of different errors could bring those lights up.
