Fabia vrs problem non start

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 04 fabia vrs and it won't start.

I have tried a few thing as main code I was getting was cam sensor.

I have changed this, checked timing, checked fuses and wiring. I have tested pump under seat and working. New filter filter, got fuel at filter in and out.

Just done a pressure test at tandem pump and got 10 psi about 0.68 bar.

I believe it should be 3.5 min bar, can anyone confirm pls

Tandem pump should be 3-5 bar at idling, tank pump about 15 psi and a delivery of about one litre a minute.

I can't get it to idle so only got crank pressure

Even crank pressure should be much higher than the reading you are getting, is the in tank pump delivery up to spec.

Yes

If your satisfied that tank pump is ok then tandem pump is faulty

Tried 2 second hand tested tandem pumps and still nothing.

What other codes are you getting, does the engine start with easy start, is the fuel contaminated with water, are compression reading up to spec. Is the crank sensor working.

Have you noticed if the rubber boost hoses collapse whilst cranking. Once had a VRS fabia non start, turned out turbo shaft was seized. Noticed the hoses collapsing due to vacuum produced. Removed boost hose from inlet manifold and it ran for a few seconds.

Only codes I am getting is comfort can bus working on one wire and steering angle sensor.

Easy it works whist spraying but when you stop it cuts out and compressions good. Diesel ok

Crank showing ok on live data

Got another head going on tomo with different set of injectors in from working pd Engine now as been told might be a couple of injectors leaking so No pressure building up

Second hand head on and now starts, lumpy and smokes though. Are injectors needed to be adjusted or do I have another problem

Injectors are adjustable, but they require a dti to set up, I would give it time to settlle down first and check all other sensors for correct readings first.

Vcds code read now and got cylinder 1 misfire

I find that strange, not aware that pd engine has misfire detection, what's the code number

  • Author

P0301 misfire detected cylinder 1

You could check the injecter wiring harness, If it where mine I would use a oscilloscope to test injector solenoids, crank and cam sensor readings, also use a impulse sensor with the scope to check intake and exhaust readings.

I have changed to harness as well. I have also move injector from 1 to 2 and misfire stayed on number 1

Only a scope would be able to tell you if number one inj.fuel solenoid was operating correctly allowing the inj.to fire instead of returning the fuel to tank.

This sounds like you originally had a leak within the integral fuel rail and now you possibly have a bent rod or some compression anomie on cylinder 1. did you check the cam and followers on the substitute head?
