A little help......

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 1.4 8v fabia (X reg). Since I bought it back in March the engine management light keeps coming on and off. The garage has said that it is something to do with the engine breathing system but seem reluctant to quote me for sorting the problem. Just wondering if anyone else has the same sort of fault and whether they could give me any idea on how much it may cost? Also, when the light comes on, the air con stops working????? They can't find a fault with this! Apart from that it's a fantastic car although just test driven a vrs and............. :)

Thanks for any help

Becky

Might be worth getting a Briskodian with VAG-COM to check the car for logged faults in the ECU? If you're in the North East of England, or if you happen to be near Ipswich in the South East anytime this weekend then I'll take a look for you

Probably have got the fuel system purge flow fault. This is very common on the MPI and usually caused by briming the fuel tank when you fill up. Fuel travels down the breather line and fills up the charcoal canister. This is then knackered and no longer cleans the fuel vapour and the engine ECU picks this up and puts the light on.

Usually needs a new canister and cleaning of the breather pipes to cure.

there is no reason however why the a/c should stop working when this happens, sounds like thats a seperate problem.

Thanks for that but a bit too far away for me so i'll keep bugging them till they fix it ;)

Well there are more of us around... there'll be a VAG-COMer near you somewhere.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted.
