Mk3 vrs possibility

Featured Replies

Yes that is well understood, but then VW went with their usual hype on how good and quicker the 1.8TSI would be then how it was,

and its like the journalists just read the Media Pack, accept the figures, never question how they are heavy, heavier than before,

but supposedly the engines are lighter,

and they (VW Head people) need to make sure a cheaper manual is not actually quicker than a more expensive Automated Manual (dsg), while making on the manual is more of a 'drivers car' according to Journalists.

*So the 1.8TSI has 12hp more as official figures come from the VWG, but then there were CTHE 1.4TSI engines from 2012/13 on that were producing that 12hp more already,

12hp more than the figures when the Cupra, Fabia & Polo 180ps were lunched, then the same figures used for the CTHE,

but lower emissions given for the SEAT in 2013, (New engine management). Thats VWG Media managing.*

Very odd putting a 3 door Polo up against a 5 door MINI,

both are big enough manufacturers to be able to provide vehicles nearer to each others spec,

but then Auto Express are VW lap dogs.

Skoda internal meeting A- Okay chaps, our Rally car is doing well, and we know the public want a fast Fabia B - but we told them we wouldn't do a new fabia vRS A - oh, yeah, ah well never mind

  • You said that before, and now the head of VW Martin Winterkorn is gone, the CEO of Skoda, Head Designers etc,  all gone, knew nothing. The New VW CEO admits they lied, Volkswagen that is, someone li

  • I like the Fabia mk3 but having driven the 1.2 tsi I didnt find it performed anywhere near as well as some people claim. I took a Polo gti out this week and it was a great drive but a boring car. Skod

They cant really make it any faster.... It''ll be knocking on the door of the Golf GTI then and could steal sales for people who don't need a bigger car but are just after power.

There are two separate markets, those that need a bigger car (got family etc so need extra seats and luggage space on a regular basis), and those who might have one child so cant buy a 2 seat sports car, but live where parking is a problem, so want a small car to fit tight parking spaces.

Personally I need the second (I have a 13 year old who is 5'6"), but live edge of London. Plenty of 6'6" width restrictions here guarded with steel poles so I like the narrower Fabia. But Skoda doesn't want to serve us (they seem to assume that I am unique or in such a minority that would never buy enough to justify the car). I find it frustrating, have had 2 Octavias, but wish I could get same features and engine in the smaller package
