A good air compressor

Featured Replies

Anyone got any recommendations on a good air compressor to inflate tyres?

My current one has an inaccurate gauge and takes an age to fill 10 psi.

Whilst I quite like the look of a lot of the ring gear, I am not a fan of screw type connectors due to pressure loss. (I'd like the wife to use it as well sometimes and dealing with a screw type might be a bit of a pain for  her).

I've got an SIP one

Seems alright for what i use it for, just the air duster and tyre inflator mainly.

I use the quick release connectors. Just clip on and off (:

I've just bought a RING 365 model because it was well reviewed.

It was far better than I was expecting for just over £30.

It's the first screw-on type I've used, but I haven't found it to result in any more pressure loss than the clip-on type.

Cable / hose stowage is a bit faffy, but most are, and it does come with a nice storage bag. Also fits perfectly in my rear footwell cubbyhole (non Skoda) as if it were custom made for it, which was a nice coincidence :)

Depends, do you want something portable that just does tyres?

In which case, I bought one from Asda for very little that's been fine.

ok, what I meant was a good tyre compressor to stick in the car :)

Glad to hear the screw type isn't too bad.. I SHOULD give it a go I guess.
Ordering one now.

Got a RING 635.. It inflates quickly but I have a hard time getting the screw type valve on and off without losing too much air!

Auto inflation can be a bit hit and miss at times.

Still.. works a LOT quicker than my old one and over inflating then dropping pressure isn't a huge issue I guess :)

When local fuel places upped tyre inflation things to 50p, I bought a cheapo from somewhere like Aldi. It can pump to 250psi, but it will do Furby tyres from 10psi to 30 ,given a little time ( certain kids think it's funny to let tyres down ). Gauge is a bit naff, but it reads approx half, so I look for something like 3-4 bar before checking with a proper gauge.
