Finally repaired my Intake Flap Motor issue

Featured Replies

So finally got round to stripping my egr/ inlet flap motor assembly today, sadly the part fitted was not original and the flap had indeed failed (couldnt be moved with ease) so as i currently have another octy that ive used the engine in my friends a3, i thought to myself how different can the 1.9 and 2.0 intake motors be, upon first look they looked almost identical all bolt holes lined up, gave it all a good clean out, and then proceeded to fit.

I did hit a snag, the 1.9 intake motor was slightly different in shape and one of its corners fouled the egr pipe, as i hate to be beaten and it was only fouling very slightly, i performed a Guerilla fix, out came the grinder and i carefully ground the corner enough to leave about 1mm gap between motor and pipe. Once fitted i cleared the codes in VCDS and replaced the blown 10 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box, and car now shuts down perfectly.

Absolutely over the moon as the fix didnt cost me a penny  :D
