How to lock car but not set alarm?

Featured Replies

Hi - I have read the relevant chapter in Manual on this several times - but just cannot seem to understand it!  Can anyone tell me how to do this - as ferry trip to France planned and I don't want to arrive with flat battery?!

Thanks

Frank

As you step out of the car, reach back in & press the button on the driver's side B pillar. Shut the door, press remote lock button once, walk away... Job done!

Thanks Simbo - I never noticed that little button before.

The button doesn't disable the alarm, only the interior motion sensors - which given the ferry journey is exactly what you need.

If the doors, boot or bonnet are opened the alarm will still sound.

Simbo's Deaf Silver

I thought "locking the door twice" meant the deadlocks were in place, however the alarm was disabled?

I'm pretty sure soon after I got my car it started having a few false alarms and until I could get the car back to them for them to turn the sensitivity down a little, a "doublc-click lock" meant the car was stills safely locked, but no alarm - but I could be wrong :)

The hazard lights still flash too

The double press of the lock button on the key fob deactivate the deadlocks...

Safe securing

The central locking system is equipped with a safe securing system.

Locking the vehicle from the outside causes the door locks to be automatically blocked. It is not possible to open the doors with the door handle either from the inside or from the outside. This acts as an effective deterrent for attempts to break into your vehicle.

You can deactivate the safe securing system. This is done by locking the vehicle with the key or radio-operated key twice within 2 seconds.

If the safe securing system is not operating:

• the indicator light in the driver door flashes for about 2 seconds fast, goes out and starts to flash slowly after about 30 seconds,
• is the fuel filler flap unlocked.

The safe securing system is again activated the next time the vehicle is unlocked and locked again.

The doors can be opened from the inside if the vehicle is locked and the safe securing system is deactivated:

• the door is unlocked by actuating the door-opening lever.

The door opens upon actuating the door-opening lever again.

My skoda octavia mk2 facelift for some strange reason has been alarming out .throughout the night, have tried all the doors and the bonnet aswell as the boot and the windows yet it still keeps going off .any advice .also had to have the car Juno started a couple if weeks back and for some reason when I open the bonnet and go to close it .it takes a few times to shut as if its hitting something. Put some wd40 in to see if it helps but atm I'm pulling my hair out

Recently my alarm kept triggering - I think due to built-in battery in the sounder becoming dud.

It kept flattening the car battery if locked, but not if left unlocked.

I took out alarm fuse but this didn't help and neither did button in door pillars that only suppresses ultrasound.

Trick to leave car locked but not alarmed:

Leave ignition on.

Lower drivers door window.

Get out, close door.

Lean in & press centre Lock button

Turn ignition off, and TAKE KEY OUT.

Press UP for drivers window and get fingers out promptly!

Hope that's useful - it's saved me getting flat battery.

What happens if you don't press the central lock button? I ask because when you press the remote lock button and hold it to raise the windows, it also locks the same way as the central lock button. [As an aside, pressing and holding the central lock buttons will raise or lower all windows together; useful in summer]

Or does your way force it to not set the alarm because the ignition is on?

If so can you press the remote instead of leaning in to press the central button, before turning off the ignition and  taking out the key? (I often lock my car with the windows half open and the alarm does not go off).

i had the same issue with my insignia.

i always just leaned in from the passenger door side and pressed the internal lock button. then close the passemger door. it doesnt bounce the doors back ulocked as the driver door does, and less risk catching your hand in the window or dropping your key mid extraçtion...

I  think using the remote always sets the alarm(or maybe gets ignored if ignition is on).

I don't think skoda internal lock button works with any door open.
