Seat belt warning on

Featured Replies

My superb has this annoying problem. Occasionally the warninglight starts blinking and the beebing sound turns on.

If I unbuckle the seat belt and buckle it again it stops, until it starts again.

Maybe some poor connections in wiring? Has anybody had this kind of problems with their car? Any advaices?

Sounds like the seat belt buckle detection mechanism is on it's way out. If I'm not mistaken there's a sensor where you insert the buckle (in the box with red button to release) that detects if there's a buckle inserted.

Options?

First get the car scanned for faults using VCDS.

1. Disable the seatbelt warning (not recommended, and possibly illegal in your country?)

2. Replace the seat belt box that has the broken sensor. Shouldn't be to hard or expensive.

Friend has vcds, so I think I have to call him to pay a visit.

Need to take contact to my local skoda dealer and ask the price for a new seat belt buckle.

Thanks for quick reply!

No problem. I'd get you the part number but I can't access ETKA where I'm at right now.

EDIT and here you go. Looks like partnumber 3T0 858 471 (QVZ)

Quick search 29.90 EUR's on eBay HERE

if someone can confirm the partnumber, you could go to a main dealer and just ask "I'd like partnumber X please", they should be able to get a quote for you. I just looked over here in Belgium it's 86 EUR's at the dealer, but you never know...

Carista full version also has the option to remove the seatbelt warning.

Price at my local dealer here in Finland was somewhere between 80-90€.

Thanks for the ebay link and part number.

I know that the warning can be removed, but if the annoying beebing sound is not there I probably would leave the seat belt unbuckled. So it really is a safety thing for me ;)

I could be getting this arseways but can this happen if you have something heavy (shopping) on the passenger seat - I think I saw this as the cause on another post.

I had mine disabled when i had the remap done

I had it disabled on the Octavia because it was beeping at me as soon as I started the engine, which meant other more useful warning bongs would occasionally be missed on startup. The Superb doesn't make any noise till I'm rolling in 2nd gear, so it's never been an issue.

This can be the cause, but I think it's the drivers' seat;

"If I unbuckle the seat belt and buckle it again it stops"

But it's like you say, if you put something on a seat that's heavy enough the car will think it's a person - and chime if you don't buckle (whatever it is) up!
