MRJ's Fabia

Featured Replies

So I've had my fabia 2 weeks now and really liking it.

It's my first non jap car and first diesel and quite impressed. It's a 2006 model with the blt engine with 90000 miles on it with factory xenons and cruise control. Needs a few bits like timing belt, egr, alt pulley, alt belt etc etc but no signs of oil leaks at the bottom and in fact the cleanest sump I've ever seen lol it's like new!! No sign of oil!

also impressed as I've managed 380+ miles from a full tank which might not be impressive to those who are used to diesels but coming from a sub 30mpg petrol car and also achieving it in London traffic is impressive to me :)

Also, just how things are put together in this car like the drive shaFfs which are bolted on meaning removal doesn't mean having to lose oil, the air feed to the airbox, the position of the oil filter, the solidness of the plastic panels in the car that don't creek even after 90,000 miles!! Etc etc the list goes on.

anyway I picked up some used (but in good Nick) coilovers from iPaul on here for a very good price as well as a Leon fr front splitter recently. Got them fitted and really happy with the look of it now...

also changed some bulbs for LEDs too which help ot look pretty good.

Plan is to apply some changes that will make it look as fresh as possible like...

Respray a few bumper bits in gloss black etc and tidy up a bit.

I've also looked at the remap options but to be honest I'm so impressed with the power I don't know if I should bother :)

Comments (+ and -) and advice always welcome...

So far I'm glad to be a 'briskodian'? :)

Bailed ages ago got a trade in offer to good to turn down. Ended up in a new kia rio for the missus. Looking at another fabia now as you just can't beat the performance and economy for the price.

In all honesty got bored very quickly of having no torque and having to beat the **** out of it to make quick progress. Made a nice noise tho with the typhoon on

Ah well the Kia's are very nice cars and yes, the Fabia seemed a very logcal move for me too!

I wasnt too convinced about the power before owning one, but now Im impressed! Yes, the rolla had to be driven quite hard to get it going whereas the Fabia feels effortless :)

Get it remapped and you'll see what all the fuss is about my last one was remapped was a rapid little car

Yeah but in your opinion would it be worth doing without having any supporting mods? Ive asked Shark and they said you dont need any but depending on driving, possibly need a better clutch...

Never mind the above, just did a search and found this advice:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/296201-remapping-advice-fabia-vrs-mk1/

I had a remap and egr turned down as much as vagcom would allow. No other performance mods and it would hassle my mates type r in a straight line.

Personally I'll be putting a egr delete, bigger intake, front mount cooler and a gtb1756 turbo when I get mine after speaking to faboka (John) On here. Should see over 200 hp and still return over 50mpg.

I had a standard new clutch fitted when I purchased mine had it mapped for 60k clutch didn't show signs of not being able to handle the power. Dmf did **** it's self tho.

cheers dude :)

Few updates this weekend, got some new KYB top mounts fitted as the old ones had worn bearings causing the shock to move about creating the most annoying clunking sound.

New EGR, Cam Belt, Alternator pulley, Water-pump and Thermostat as well as a service.

Also got pressed plates fitted and gave her a good wash :)

Tbf you wernt. Everyone thinks there's loads of tuning options for jap cars but you soon realise vag group cars are easily modified with cheap genuine parts from other models sometimes for peanuts from the main dealer.

The fabias go well with minimal tweaking. Even big power can be had for a lot less than the jap cars. Plus you still get ya 50-60mpg when ya want to cruise on the motorway.
