The smell of death

Featured Replies

Over the past three days a smell has appeared in the Octy. It wasn't too bad at the start, but this morning it has got worse. After i get in and turn on the vents it seems to dissapear.

It smells like something decomposing. I opened up the bonnet when i reached work, expecting to see a dead cat or worse, but nothing.

Where should i look?? I can't smell anything from the engine bay!!!

Try looking in the pollen filter. It could be something rotting in there.

have you cjhecked the floor? perhaps someone has been in the car with poo on their feet?

Dead bird somewhere? Maybe a stoat plastered round the wheel arch?

Is it a musty smell?

May be bacteria on the climate control evaporater.

Had the fusty smell from the air con before. It happens for the first few second when the air con comes on. This is present after the car has been sitting for a few hours or more.

Its not poo or anything like that. Cleaned all the crap out of the car the other day when i first noticed it. Checked the boot this morning but it smelt fresh.

I have smelt dead mice before where they are trapped under floor boards, and this smells much the same, only not just as bad (yet!!)

Goochie, is the pollen filter in the black trim just below the window??

I might try and dismantle is tonight if there is enough light when i get home.
