Do You Use Voice Command ?

Featured Replies

I haven't tried it because I assume it will simply irritate me with us BOTH getting confused.

It's basically a survey and thanks for any input.

Yes - works well

I agree with Smokeyjoe, it works very well indeed. I was pleasantly surprised as I had only read how it didn't work on the Tiguan when I had one. I have used it for navigation, phone and radio. Give it a try and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not sure it works on Media/Radio in my 1/12 model Bolero.

With such a variety of accents in the UK I'm surprised it doesn't get confused.

Thanks all -

Shuffle does Bluetooth after you've used the s wheel

Select Phone (to me that's were the confusion is)

Scroll down to Bluetooth - select

Scroll down to Media player -select

Search etc

Enter code 1234 on Shuffle

Done

Works!

I find voice control extremely unreliable.  I've only tried it for voice dialling (it's possible that that's all that my car will do) but I always seem to end up with the robotic lady asking me to "please dial manually".  It does seem to pick the right number to call about 50% of the time but it hardly ever actually manages to place the call.  I also find it annoyingly difficult to get out of - I can never remember the correct command to make it shut up and go away!

That's what I feared ej and the reason I haven't risked getting into a shouting match with it.......maybe the latest versions are significantly better though.

I confirm that my comments were about the Amundsen II unit fitted to my 15 reg Outdoor Yeti

"Dishwasher...On"

"Ironing...On"

"Dinner...Serve"

Seriously?

Wow!

Looks like trade in time already. (TIC)

I find the voice control very good actually.

I use it to either call someone from the phonebook or set a new destination while moving.

Sometimes it doesn't quite understand a place name but you have the option to spell it out which I have found is very accurate.

It may very much depend on your accent and annunciation.

I wonder if it 'learns' your voice........with AI just around the corner I guess it's inevitable.

My girl is struggling with my Welsh accent!

Though I did send my phone a text of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerchwyrndrobwilllantysiliogogogoch (name of a little Welsh town) and asked her to read it out.

I must say she did remarkably well, certainly better than most Welsh people could manage.

Mine doesn't get the Cornish accent, seems to randomly pluck anyone from the phonebook to call rather than who I actually asked for...

I wonder if It will be a technology that will improve ie ..are early versions improved on by later ones?

If you think of the early "Speech to Text" programs for computers they were, to be polite, rather poor. They have improved with time as the Voice Commmand has / will improve.

I have to say that I have only had a couple of times the feature didn't work on my Amundsen II and they were my fault for not waiting for the sound for me to start talking.
