Smiler's 1.2 Fabia daily project

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just a brief on how all came to be, I'm 17 from Glossop up north. I'm a welding and fabrication apprentice just beginning my final year. I've had I think 12 cars upto now but most have been donors. I've got a Sierra XR4x4 rally car and my first car my troublesome Metro GTa

And head gasket's gone on my metro for the second time. Not long has it setup on the rolling road after fitting a few bits to it like 1.5-1 rockers etc. So sick of reliability issues I decided I needed a modern car as a daily, and I'll moth ball the metro come insurance renewal. My step mum and Dads best mate both have fabias altho his mate got rid of his vrs (daft move) and I've got a soft spot for them, and a mate was selling this one as it's got a valve problem apparently and is running on 2 cylinders. But for £180 with new brakes, exhaust, tyres, and an overall tidy condition car I thought sod it it's mine haha. So the plan is use it as a daily/project and save as much money as possible as I want to move out at the end of this year.

Plan is

Vrs front bumper

Vrs rear bumper

Coilovers

Banded beetle 16" steels

Limo tint windows

Seat surgeons retrim (or take it to my local retrimmer tony archer)

A backbox or something to fill the exhaust lump in

Body coloured mirrors

Facelift rear lights

Black out the front light surrounds

And a few other little details to keep me occupied.

Cheers. Yeah the sierra's my pride and joy. Needs so much welding it's untrue but hey. Better than a drug habit haha. And sweet, if you ever see me bopping about in my metro give us a pip!

Quick update. Scrapped one of my sierras, and got this home, as well as my metro's broke too. Nothing but fun and games here. But found the source of the prolem. It's somewhere in the engine bay :D Oh, and ripped my exhaust off the manifold pulling in the garage as it's on a hill, and didn't look to be fitted great as was blowing on the way home. But hoovered it out and cleaned the interior, binned the car mats, and got rid of all the unneccesary ****e as I like a clean car. Might not even bother doing anything to this bar a decent headunit to be honest, so I can save towards my dream car. Either way will update during this coming week with the work if anyone's interested.
