New car newbie and afew questions

Featured Replies

hi all , newbie here to the newer Octavia , been search all morning and just would like some defined answers .

I'm looking to fit a parrot ck3100 to my 2011 Octavia which has a bolero stereo . Would I need anything to fit else to make it fit or is it a straight forward plug in and play ?

I've seen fiscon is an 'OEM' fit and would it work better then the parrot ?

Can you get a Bluetooth module to fit the bolero so it can work with the phone ?

I haven't got a maxi dot computer but is it an easy thing to have fitted or programmed in ?

I am looking to get a VCD's from this site here http://www.obd2tuning.com/vcds-vag-1212-interface-vag-com-1212-vcds-1212-never-locked-p-1841.html which a lot of people on the VAG Talk page on facbook say works a treat . Has anyone on here brought one ? I'd like to here your reviews on it .

I've seen on the search that the bolero comes with Parking Distance Control . Now I don't have parking sensors fitted to my car but its something that id like to have fitted . What parking sensors would I need for the PDC to work on the bolero ?

I have an E-Prance G1W dash cam and looking to buy a hard wire kit to install it . It has motion detection and with it hardwire in I don't want the battery to go flat , is there anyway it can be hardwire in so this doesn't happen , I'm completely dumb when it comes to these .

Also is there any other tips or tricks that may help out abit .

Thanks for your patience in this thread and thanks for any help

The guy to speak to about all that is electronic or retrofit related is Eddie_nl you will struggle to find anyone including the main dealers with his experience or prices.

Thanks for your reply . I'll message him later . Just out walking the dog

I can help with the dash cam nick dependant on where you are.

I'd also avoid that site for VCDS, it's not a genuine cable so you won't get any updates and if you have problems there will be no support either...

Pretty sure there are a couple of folks around Sheffield that do have the genuine cable and will be more than happy to help with any coding or error codes that you might have for a couple of beers.

fiscon is better than parrot in my experience, it works just like oem plug and play, all works via the touchscreen on the bolero.

you can also source the oem parts you need (lots of info on the site already if you search).  buying the oem bits individually works out cheaper than fiscon but probably involves a little mor research and fidding around.

I have a Bluetooth module, loom and mic in the classifieds for sale:

Its a 7P6 module that I retrofitted to my Octy with Bolero and no maxidot. Coded to work with a Columbus so paired and worked fine but would need someone more clever than I am to code to a Bolero to get the phone book displayed correctly.

I am led to believe that this module is compatible with an Octy with Bolero and no maxidot however my new car already has a 3C8 module so this is now surplus to requirements.

Regardless, I would definitely go down the OEM / Fiscon route, surely worth the extra pennies to have the hidden OEM look?
