Air con brain fart

Featured Replies

Had a weird moment at the weekend. Sun was out and complaints of people being hot.

So slapped on the Air Con, went for Low temp and Full speed - lasted a few seconds and then just cut itself out and wouldn't start again.

So, windows and Pano were opened and air con turned off. One stop-stop start later I tried the air con again and it was fine.

I've not replicated it since - anyone else experienced anything similar? We were city driving - so I wonder if the power surge just caused the BUS to cut air con?

Probably shock/trauma at being asked to work in the UK....

Not had it before myself - my air con / climate automatically sets the fan speed based on the temp. So if I put on max low temp it boosts the fan then cuts it down as it cools.

Sound like 'brain fart' sums it up..... :D

There's probably no measurable benefit to fuel consumption available from turning the air con off when it's not in use as the Superb uses a variable displacement compressor as far as I know, so it effectively turns itself off when it's not needed. I was wondering why I didn't see a difference in fuel consumption when I turned the aircon off on days when it wasn't hot enough to need it until I discovered this.
