vRS TDI Hatchback Lease Swap HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Sorry if I put this into the wrong place.

The story:

I have a vRS TDI Hatchback on personal lease since December and I need to transfer this to a company who would be interested to take it.

I got a brilliant job offer abroad and I decided to take it, but unfortunately, Skoda Finance has been very un-flexible and refused to take it with me, transfer it to a person or even buying the car out of the lease agreement.

This leaves me no options only to tranfer it to a business.

Asked Skoda to hand it back to the dealership and just leave it there, paying for it as usual, but they refused this as well.

I would really appreciate if the Moderators could put this to the right group if this is inaccurate and if you know someone who would be interested to take my lease, please let me know.

No upfront payment, no hassle, no issues, only a £260 monthly rental price for 30 months.

Documents and swap is managed by Skoda Finance themselves in a fully legal process.

Thanks to everyone beforehand.

There are some websites that specifically cater for people that are in your situation.

Yeah, checked a couple of them, tried to call swapalease.co.uk which is very known in the US but they don`t even bother to pick the phone up...

Surely if you pay the remaining lease payments and hand the car back then you are free to walk away or buy the car.

If I've read the above correct that would be 30 months @260 which is £7800.

Not exactly pocket change

It is around £5000 according to Skoda, but still a lot.

Best bet is to see if someone you know personally can take it on because i know if i was paying £260 a month i would want to pick it my self and also want to keep something at the end of it :D

you could always hire some storage leave it in storage keep paying it then just send them the keys to go get it when its finished :D

Probably with a early settlement refund of interest.

Still my point u was making its not exactly pocket change.

Hope it works out for you though

Thanks guys, hopefully, with the help of the community here I will find someone who would take it on. Still have a month left to sort so I am hopeful.

Agreed not small change,

That said £260 a month to drive a £26k car with no upfront costs, someone must be interested.

what if you where to draft a contract up so you could pay £60 of the £260 and make it more lucrative for someone to take the bait :)

Considering this, but not sure how this could be sorted out with Skoda Finance. If someone takes over the lease agreement officially, how this would be handled?

You set up a standing order to the recipients account . It's bum deal but softens the blow?

You should be able to buy the vehicle, but unless the contract allows for it to be transferred, you'll have no option but to pay all payments under the contract.

Leases come under contractual law and not financial as with HP

Not sure if it was clear or not but might worth mentioning that the £260 monthly lease is inclusive of VAT as I have it on personal agreement, so I guess if a business takes over, it would be less.

I would be happy with that. :)

So all you have to do is find someone to take it over at £200 a month explain how it will work :D

Makes no odds. You cannot transfer the lease nor sub-lease it to anyone else.

So skoda finance won't let you transfer it to another individual but are absolutely fine with the car lease being transferred to a business? Not sure why they would allow one and not the other?

Yes that is correct.

The reason for this is beyond me...

Running out of time, just a couple of weeks left until my move, would appreciate if you could spread this to any possible parties who might be interested.

  • 11 months later...

Hi everybody!

Resurrecting this topic in hope that someone might be interested.

I was very lucky last year and I could give my beauty to a friend who has been taking care of it, but this will end in a couple of weeks unfortunately.

I have been trying to transfer the lease to a business and found 3 potential buyers, but guess what, Skoda Finance declined all of them.

I would be grateful if someone would let me know if interested taking the lease, it has 18 months left on the contract.

I am open for reasonable options too.

Thanks,

Harti

But the person taking on the lease has to be a business?

And then have to be vetted and approved by Skoda Finance?

This will surely limit your chances of finding someone?

Why are Skoda being so difficult?

Now you are another 12 months further along with the payments have you asked Skoda for the latest settlement figure?

Hi silver1011,

The answer for all your questions is YES.

I have been trying to work out some kind of middle way due to my circumstances, but they are so thick, they don`t care about anything. :S

The provided settlement figure is fine, but still a lot what I am not willing to pay in one if I can find someone taking over the lease for the rest of the 18 months.

It is very unlike Skoda UK to be quite so difficult.

You'd think they'd want to help you offload the car by at least letting you transfer it to someone else, other than a business.

As long as they pass Skoda's credit checks what is the problem?

I think this is one of the significant disadvantages of PCH vs. PCP, other than paying all the outstanding payments and handing the car back then the only other option is to stick it in a lock-up and leave it there.
