Fabia vRS Estate - Borbet F Alloys Fitted (Video)

Featured Replies

When I first  saw your decision on Borbet F's, I wasn't too sure on how it would look. But I have to say they really suit the car, especially in that colour combo! Still hunting for my Estate's new shoes....

Nice but not as nice as mine!

These meets are expensive lol. The Santapod one cost me tickets, petrol, food/drink, hotel and also wheels and springs haha!!

just to check were they 5x100 7 inch wide 35 offset ? 73.1 mm centre bore?

5x100 17x7" ET35 but I think the centre bore was 63.1mm or something. Standard bore is 57mm I think so as long as the bore is bigger than that they will fit although you will have to insert a small plastic spigot ring (oooh errr!) so that they fit tight to the hub. Mine came supplied with the rings and bolts required. If the centre bore is larger than standard and you don't use a spigot ring the weight of the car will be taken by the bolts and not the wheel apparently....which isn't good!

My set cost a bargain £278 inc fitting kit and delivery direct from Germany!

Oh and as a bonus the original locking bolts and caps fitted fine :-)

Did you check whether the Borbets were radius or taper bolt fitment?

If the Borbets are taper fitment the OEM bolts will fit, but only part of the curve will butt up to the wheel

No I didn't check that or see any info when I ordered them. The tyre fitters (have a first class reputation locally) were confident that they were the same size and shape so would fit fine so I took their word for it. I did ask the question tho as I was half expecting to have to shell out fir a new set of locking bolts!

I only mention it because the majority of aftermarket wheels tend to be taper fit, although if they are standard on VAG cars that might be different

I'll have a google when I get home from work, don't want my new wheels falling off. Especially if Mrs Furbytom is driving, would never live that one down....... Lol!

Thanks for the info! :-)
