Tyres!

Featured Replies

Hello custodians of all things shiny, bit of help please.

Bismark now has her new wheels and tyres and looks top jolly. I would like to keep the tyres looking good but want to avoid the over shiny appearance like you've just driven it off an iffy motor traders forecourt.

Any thoughts?

Nice one Chris, thank you.

Any particular favourite as far as you're concerned?

Yes..My favourite is Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel...Apply with an old sponge applicator pad and wipe off again with an old MF cloth

Gtechniq T2 is exactly what you're after and it's cheap

BTW Halfords have 3 for 2 on at the moment (again....)

Splendid stuff chaps, once again your help is invaluable.

Thank you.

A current thread discussing the issue of tyres: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/238766-tyre-black-which-is-best/

Interesting read on that thread....

For the record - my long term favourite is Autosmart Highstyle.

I think Baker21 put me onto this stuff - cheap enough and a bottle lasts years!

More recently I started testing KKD Tyresol; and a few people have commented on the tyres looking better and longer....AlanR36 for one - so it must be good ;)

Can't argue with other decent recommendations above. See what works with your detailing routine.

There are some cack sprays about, don't bother with halfords tyre dressing aerosol, it cleans but doesn't blacken.

I've not used it yet on my tyres (just persevered with the cack halfords stuff, but that is now done) but I've found autoglm bumper and trim gel seems excellent on exterior rubber such as widow seals and door seals, I have never found the AG vinyl and rubber care that good on exterior stuff, and now just use it on the inside.

I might try the auto smart stuff in the future though, I assume it would work on door seals and window seals too?

Door seals and any other rubbers - I tend to use Gummi Pledge; which works well.

After applying do you wipe off?

I noticed marks down the paint like it has seeped off the rubber onto the paint. I did the window seals on the outside.

Yes.... I do most of the car application; allow to absorb then follow back round to wipe off any excess.

Fanks! Topic hijack over :D

I always thought Gummi Pledge was supposed to be used on internal rubbers because it was water based and you would get runs if used externally.

Or have I got that wrong?

That's correct

Gummi Pledge is wasted on external rubber..it washes straight off

Ahhhh. Oooooh. Oooooo.

Cheers.

Just on the door seals for me now then.

They are Reviewing a better range ...not just ones from Halfords.......and getting it right these days

I once wrote to Autoexpress asking why they did a product review on waxes and called it a 'Polish Test'

They changed it eventually...which I was quite proud of...Though doubt it was just me ...LOL

I use opti bond tire gel looks natural lasts quite well.
