wheel question

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

can't find answer regarding wheels. I have set of steels with winter tyres on  for my old MK1 Fabia vrs. Can I use those wheels on Roomster 1.2 SE 105Bhp 2010?

I am thinking changing to Roomster and as I prefer to have winter tyres in winter would be nice if I could keep them,

They have tyres size 195x50x15 on them

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Petr

Hi Petr,

The stud pattern, 5x100, is the same on both the 6Y(mk1) Fabia and the 5J roomster. They should fit fine, subject to tyre size and offset etc.

I have just fitted a pair of Michelin Cross Climate tyres 155/55 15. I have gone for these tyres (only put one the Market in May) as they appear to be based on a summer tyre that has been adapted to use all the year round (read the reviews seem very good).

Previously I had 205/45 16, but I could not get these tyres on this size rim as they have not been made yet. Plus roads are poor around the Hampshire/ Surrey area and thing 15 will absorb the bumps more.

The only concern I have is that the brake caliper is very close to the wheel, it does not touch but very close (15 wheels came off a Fabia) Has any one else come across this?

you only need a few mm clearance

I think you will find that your vehicle is supposed to have either 185/55 15's or 195/55 15's.  If you've only got 155/55 15 you are using a tyre size which is not approved for your vehicle and have probably invalidated your insurance (unless you have declared it as a modification).

I have MY2014 Scout with standard 16" wheels. I have a separate of tires and wheels for the winter season and they're 15". Rims are original, model is Avior. Tires are studded tires, Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8, size is 195/55R15. Brake hardware kinda close to wheel, but it fits. All models beside Scout have 15" wheels as standard so it can't be wrong size.

There is plenty of room there - no different to Octavias / Superbs running 16" on 312mm brakes.

About the only thing you need to be careful of are the wheel weights (at 6 o'clock in the photo).  Sometimes they need to be changed for slimline weights

Sorry, yes the Cross Climate tyres are 195/ 55 15.

So far they are very good, very stable, good grip with low road noise.
