Taken my Ibiza Strut Brace off...

Featured Replies

I removed my strut brace today to see what it's like without it...

I remember when I fitted it, I couldn't really feel much difference(I had standard suspension back then), but now, since I've had it on for a year, I thought I'd see what it's like without it.

First of all, high speed over less than perfect road surfaces are now rather scary  ... I feel like there is a lot less control over the steering without the brace.

Steering feels a lot less direct and the car genuinely feels less stable.

Remember that I've got hard coilovers too!

I'm going to drive it without the brace for a week or so, then put it back on to see what the difference is like going back to it.

Who'd have thought it would make such a difference!!

ordering mine soon....

About 50 quid, yeah.

Best 50 quid you'll spend that day.

Very easy to fit... 7 bolts (3 small and 4 larger). Takes about 15 minutes.

Geese, have you checked to see if there is a "How To" ?

I am sure there is one on here.

Also, you have to remove the solenoid box (think thats its name) in order to get access to some of the bolts. This is very very easy all you need is an allen key and a spanner to remove the screws around the box and the screw at the back, then it just lifts out of place. Undo the 4 bolts, whip the brace in and then the reverse procedure, then go for a spin

Ibiza strut brace.... that red thing? didnt think that was pimp enough for you josh...

How much, where from, can you feel any difference?

Well, I still see a MOMO sticker on it, so assume its another Seat dealer option?

HOW MUCH? (and more to the point, WHY? What does adjusting it really do?)

It allows it to fit the not so accuarte body shells which come out of the factory..

That a problem with Seats? :D :P (only kidding)

I was wondering if tightening / loosening would do anything with it all bolted in at each end? I assume the tighter it's pushed out, the more force being applied between the turrets, and the less flex it will be subject to? Wonder what the recommended Nm of tightening is needed. :D

A couple i know who have had the normal seatsport one fitted and have gone for 4wa, have discovered that the bar can alter the geometry of the suspension slightly (very slightly) but enough for it to show up on their equipment... in theory the adjustable one could.. well, be adjusted.

plus i think it looks cool

would it fit my cordy? I've got a full roll cage so would a stut brace make and difference?

Depends if your full rollcage goes through the bulk head to the suspension pickup points. If it does then no. Not worth it. It not then I would say yes.

Suspect that one won't fit your cordy, but I'm sure Seat have one that does... :D

nope, it goes through the dash and mounts just in front of the door.
