Importing maps to sat nav?

Featured Replies

Hi All, fairly new here. just picked up my VRS 3 weeks ago.

I and a few friends are off for a jaunt around Wales on Friday and my friend has prepared a route on google maps.

Is there any way to import this to the standard Amundsen sat nav in the Octavia?

I have seen a few threads where people have managed to get lists of ponts of interest like speec cams and national trust sites into the nav but nothing where people have strung together a route.

I tried to set the sat nav to go from home to home via ABCD etc but it only lets you do 1 waypoint.

Currently I'm looking at having to program in all 22 waypoints into the stored destination and then just load up the next one once I have reached the current one.

Failing that I'm going to have to use my old Garmin portable sat nav that a route can be put into. it just seems a massive shame that the one occasion I actually need the sat nav I cant use the nice one built into the car.

I can get the route as a GPX file if that helps?

Any help?

I dunno if its just me being special but I cant get any of those to work.

The first one I can get a .db3 file but the car gets nothing from it.

The second one I can put in loads of destinations then save them. it saves as a zipped file so once extracted I open and put into the destinations folder.

The nav in the car then recognises all the destinations and imports them but it just imports names, there is no map data so it cant travel to them. The file downloaded from the skoda site contains no map data, even if opened with outlook.

If I try uploading a list of POIs it either does nothing or brings up a web error.

The 3rd one uploads the KML file from google and lists and shows all the points on the map but again when downloaded as destinations it just gives me a file with a name and no map data.

If you can get these sites to work Is there any chance I could send you the kml/ gpx/ vcf files and you could get them back to me with some map data?
