Hi, 1 of my rear parking sensors is giving a constant beep like its up against something but it's not.

It's not happening 100% of the time but about 90%, so can anybody tell me if it's totally gooshed or is it a connection or something.

It started after it got wet 1 day.

I don't know the system in the Mk2 model, in Mk1 if the sensor is busted just gives a long beep when you select reverse, after that none of them is detecting nothing.

Same thing if the connection has a problem...

 

Maybe you should ask in the Mk2 section?

Yes when you get the continuous beep there is a fault in the system... usually a sensor, you can try swapping them one by one with a new one until the continuous beep stops or get the car scanned with VCDS which will tell you which sensor is at fault.

Im told they're a lot more reliable than the sensors in the MKI and a lot easier to change too... no idea if this is correct?

I had to change one in my MKI and it was black and fitted into the rubber strip.  On the MKII, they're painted the colour of the car as there is no rubber strip, so they may be easier to change but it would be a pain if they've got to be sprayed first.
