Seperating grill

Featured Replies

I'm just in the middle of splitting a front grill to paint the chrome part. I've managed to unclip the top and sides of the black part so it's loose but can't seem to find any tabs on the lower part of it except for a small one in the middle.

Is the lower part bonded on?

No its just clipped in, I use bits of cable tie to put in between once its separated.

The lower part of my grill was stuck on with a double sided sticky foam pads. I used a bit of string to cut through them. Just be careful if pulling the chrome part away from the rest as it's quite fragile and can break easily.

Yup, mine was 3m sticky pads, which was exactly what I stuck it back with.

Funnily enough I just had another go at separating the grill before logging on. The lower was stuck on with strips of sticky foam. I'll use some when sticking it back together.

Has anybody removed the badge of the grill before? Is it just stuck on or is it stuck on by the 2 plastic tabs that are welded on the back of the grill?

Yes - Both, if memory serves.

Mine was both. Stuck back on with same 3m sticky tape 6 years ago, never fallen off.
