My trip to the SeatSurgeons.

Featured Replies

It all started at about 3 am on Friday morning when my alarm went off  . I nudged SWMBO and told her it was time to get up, she grunted something that ended in off, can't imagine what it was.

Anyway, both of us got up, showered and refreshed with a large cup of coffee we set off from home at just after 0400 for the 270 mile journey to York. Traffic was pretty good, even negotiated the M25 without delay (except for the road works of course). The weather was another story, bloody awful nearly all the way up. It didn't seem to get light until around 8am.

We pulled into the SeatSurgeons car park at about 0825, slightly later than anticipated but we did make a stop on route. I am pleased to say the car averaged 57.1 for that leg of the journey.

My first impression of the SeatSurgeons was that it was a bigger place than I expected. For some reason I had this mental picture of a small unit, big enough to fit a car in and no more. Far from it, they have a pretty new unit on a nice little industrial estate, well lit and with several trimmers working away at benches. (It made me chuckle on the way in as we passed a Wyvale garden centre, those that have paid a visit to a certain establishment in the Peterborough area will know what I mean ;))

Unfortunately Paul was away on business so we were looked after by the rest of the team. We were made to feel very welcome and the guy's were really chatty. After a chat, a look at my seat covers and a quick test of the toilet facilities we were offered a lift into York and told that we would recieve a call when the job was done.

We were dropped off right in the centre of York where we spent the day wandering around with me trying to stop SWMBO spending any money. We went for a breakfast at a big place on the riverside across from Yates and opposite the Living Room - avoid it at all costs!!

Glad you like the job Stu, hopefully more interior transformations to come in the future.

Very very jelous, they look like they do a cracking job and at a good price

Walkie I'm the one thats jealous of you - would love to have some octavia vrs alloys and get some eibachs fitted, yours looks awesome mate

Good stuff dude. Really good. One thing though. In two years time, all that leather is gonna be shining like the sun, and it'll be a real b***h to clean. Speaking from experience.

Otherwise, it looks very very hot! :D

That's a beautiful job mate. Nothing looks worse than trying to make a car look more expensive and ending up with it looking cheaper. Certainly not the case with yours. And how refreshing is it to hear of a company that does a great job, looks after their customers and is running a successful business as well. Bet you are well chuffed. Big thumbs up to Seat Surgeons.

Lovely job they've done, looks real nice, almost RS2'ish

Yeah I am really pleased with it. Went to Sainsbury's earlier and noticed a couple looking into it as we walked back to it, it is quite eye catching.

Same has happened to me several times people almost w@nkin over the quality.

You've convinced me now, not that I really needed convincing :D

Expensive run this month between all the car toys ;) :(

Have to say, looks rather nice. And really good photos too to show off the work. I hadn't realised what they meant by door cards :o but the snape really illustrate it to its best.

Thanks Stu...

...and damn you at the same time :D

It is a treat to sit on I have to say. All the wages you get for being on the staff will surely go towards it  :P .

Always welcome to drop by and have a look if you want to mate.

Stu, if you are free and want to have a trip up to Basingstoke (well, just north on the A33) on the 17th November, we're having a mini-meet. :)

tfboy is that invite open to anyone :)

what time in the day you looking at, would be the day before my 19th :) and if my car has arrived by then would be my first meet.

(sorry dude dont mean to hijack)

I've been keeping one eye on the thread but didn't want to commit yet as I'm not sure of the situation at work yet. I'll try to make it if possible.

Anyone got pics of factory leather(non-vrs) so we can see if seatsurgeons do better job than

I don't think it's an option in this country mate.

If it's optional in serbia then i dont think in GB it isn't(im talking about non-vrs fabias). Xenons on vrs are standard here though.

I believe the only Fabia with leather as standard is the limited edition 100 one. I've never seen it as an option in any of the price lists :D

In case you didn't spot it, here's a link to the thread. Suspect I won't be able to make this one, but maybe one day I will!!!

Chris

You know, as good as this work is, I actually can't justify me spending that much on my seats. :o Guess my spending priorities lie elsewhere in the car.

You're still spending money on your car?

That's awkward. It's available as an option here.

Maybe Skoda UK's research showed there was not much demand for leather from UK buyers who were buying a budget supermini so it was not offered? I guess the same must have gone for the electric rear windows and heated washer jets, etc....
