halfords gloucester fined for shoddy serviceing

Featured Replies

When you see them struggling to work the till and then they ask would you like that fitting i find it hard not to laugh :)

This is no surprise to me. I took my dad to look at a VW Polo years ago that an old fella had for sale and had just had a 'full service' at Halfords. They hadn't changed either the plugs or air filter dispite charging the old guy for them. We all piled in the car and went down there. They offered to put things right but we negotiated for the old chap to get a full refund and deducted that off the sale price. It was such a good genuine low milage example we didn't argue about the price. I did gain a set of snap on feeler gauges the monkey left under the bonnet though.

so he thought about changing the spark plugs ? checked them and didn't bother?

Shocking. I also always wonder for the services where they offer 'we can fit it for you' what training has been carried out with staff

Haha there is on character in our local one who calls him self a master mechanic because he fits bulbs and wipers :D every time i see him fitting something he is damaging something els !

Motto is "we can fit it", though from what I've seen and heard ,perhaps fit might be replaced by another word meaning the opposite.

Quite possible, but if you get charged for a new set it's reasonable to expect them to be changed. It made me wonder what else the mechanic didn't do, maybe he just saw the old chap as an easy target.
