2016 Volkswagen Golf GTi

CLUBSPORT S

VW Golf GTI MK7 Clubsport S White and comes with optional Air Con. Car is build week 42 so I expect to take delivery in december and is 1 of only 150 UK Cars. This car is currently the FWD record holder around the Nurburgring. Guaranteed to be a highly collectable car Pictures are stock photographs and not actual car. 2nd only to Porsche's 911R in this years Evo Car of the Year !! (taken from Evo Clubsport S review) The Golf GTI Clubsport S is the fastest front-wheel drive production car around the Nurburgring. Honda, Seat and Renault have been squabbling over that particular honour for the past year or so, but by recording a 7min 49.21secs lap in April Volkswagen usurped them all, bettering Honda's Civic Type R by 1.4 seconds. The Clubsport S will be limited to 400 units, with 150 right-hand drive cars set to come to the UK. But if you haven't got your name down already you're out of luck, as every one of those UK-allocated cars has been sold out. Deliveries are set to begin in early October. The Clubsport S becomes the fastest and most exclusive model in an extensive line up of high-performance, front-wheel drive Golfs. The Golf GTI is the entry-level version, followed by the GTI Performance and the GTI Clubsport Edition 40, the model that marks 40 years of VW's hot hatch and that forms the basis for the Clubsport S. With 306bhp the Clubsport S becomes the most powerful Golf ever, as well as the fastest. It uses the same EA888 2-litre, four-cylinder turbo unit that powers all high performance Golfs, tweaked here to deliver its peak output between 5800-6500rpm, with 280lb ft of torque available from 1850-5700rpm. For reference, the Clubsport delivers a peak power output of 286bhp on temporary overboost. The only transmission option is six-speed manual, carried over unchanged from the Clubsport. Drive is sent to the front wheels and apportioned between them by an electronically controlled limited slip differential. From there the Clubsport S starts to distinguish itself from the Clubsport. The chassis gets bespoke damper tuning, new front knuckles, more camber front and rear with less toe and a lightweight front aluminium subframe. Those revisions are all designed to make the car more stable at speed, and reduce understeer. Bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are standard fit (they're optional on the Clubsport) and the brakes get specific pads and aluminium bowls that enable the discs to expand under sustained track work without warping. Some 30kg has been saved over the Clubsport by removing the rear seats and some sound deadening material. The car's Individual drive mode has been configured specifically for the Nurburgring Nordschleife, which is notoriously bumpy. It slackens the dampers off to deal with the circuit's countless bumps and high kerbs while keeping all other parameters in their most aggressive settings.

So Evo ecoty 2016, Golf GTI Clubsport S out classing all but one in the test /review. Even taking plaudits over the current hyped King of Hot Hatches.

However, at an inflated price for LIMITED 150 production run an hence if you can get your hands on one.

Don't know if this counts as 'today' as I see it every day I'm in the office, but the Porsche dealer near where I work in Sheffield has a red 959 in the window

The Porsche 959 is a rare and awesome automobile.  Less than 400 were built in 1987 - 1988. They sold for about $250,000 US each.

Space age technology was used in building its body, made up of aluminum and Kevlar parts to keep it light, but strong enough to handle the 450 hp that where transmitted through its four wheel drive configuration. It would rocket from 0 - 100 kph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 320 kph (200 mph).

All the air scoops where not in the original design, but were added later. When testing began, Porsche soon discovered that they were needed to supply enough air for the turbo chargers and to keep the engine running cool enough.

The Porsche 959 was never certified legal for American roads since Porsche refused to hand over 4 cars for crash testing.  Who can blame them?

Real photos beats Google generic searching any day of the week Keith!

Wardy,

Better than naught or waiting, me thinks.

A car i do really like the look of & would cherish,  just not in this colour combination.

Odd that he does not know that the Passenger Side is the 'Near Side' Kerb Side, not the 'Off Side' Driver Side

, How can he put the Near Side Door Scuff on the report if he does not know his Ar53 from his elbow.  Love the British way, lick the finger...
