Looking at starting a thred in relation to EGR valve failures on FL 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI engines

 

 

2010 1.6 TDI FL Octavia EGR failure at 70,000 miles

 

Cost of replacement and fitting appro £600

2011 2.0TDI 140 EGR fault 84,000 miles

Waiting for definite replacement cost but think it'll be about €550 inc skoda goodwill contribution.

 

I'm wondering can EGR be blanked in this?

was looking at them too on ebay  for under 5 pound anyone fitted 1 ?

£600 to replace an EGR valve !!!! That sounds like a rip off.

Are there any 3rd party EGR valves available or is it just a dealer part??

How difficult are they to replace??

Wrong end of the stick fella. They are talking about the egr/cooler assembly. To replace them usually consists of removing steering rack and subframe. Osf driveshaft removal. Dpf filter removal. Replacement of the egr /cooler.. refit the Dpf and driveshaft refit subframe and steering rack. Wheel alignement. Job done.

I haven't had any problem with mines but I know it's only the matter of time, gonna get my car in next month to have it remapped and EGR blanked off, was tempted to delete the DPF at same time but I'm not sure

I know 6 cases on 1.6 tdi.

1 got new one

1 cleaned it

4 mapped out.

All 6 had between 50000 and 70000km and 4 to 5 years of lifetime

2011 2.0TDI 140HP (CR), EGR fault at ~150k km.

Mapped out.

 

The guy at the garage said that now he sees such EGR problems very often.

I know a Yeti that's on its 3rd egr it's done 40000 miles and is 4.5 year's old.

Sounds like a right pita.

Getting worried after reading this thread. What are the symptoms of EGR failure?

 

I was sitting on the fence about a remap, but this may sway me.
