Flat tyre sensors

Featured Replies

Do you have to reset these? Or do they just monitor difference in circumference of tyres? Can't find any info in the owners manuals.

Cheers

Mike

My understanding was that when you have adjusted your tyre pressures to whatever is appropriate, you reset and from then on the rotational speed of each wheel is monitored by the ABS sensors for comparison to the other 3 wheels. If it changes then the warning is triggered.

Got me thinking now, does the system just monitor each wheel compared to the vehicle speed, do the other 3 wheels come into it at all - how does it work?

that's what I thought, but there is nothing in the manual telling you how to reset the sensors, in fact there is no mention of the sensors in my manual at all!

Don't think the CitiGo had the TPM fitted

If you have the button on the dash for TPMS then it is as above. Press the button to reset the system after inflating the tyres.

It then monitors the rotational speed of all the wheels and compares them. If they don't match then it triggers a warning.

There's no sensors for pressures it just uses the ABS wheel speed sensors.

How about Tire Pressure Monitoring System, or TPMS? There should be something about it in owner's manual.

I think this 'latches' on as well, I had a flat, had the light on, pumped tyre up to get to garage but still had the warning, so pressed and held for a few seconds (I think the dash light flashed) and then did the same again once I had the new tyre on it.

I had a false indication on the m'way a few weeks ago, pulled off the m'way and checked all tyres were ok, then reset it and all seems ok.  I mate has a golf and chatting to him they use a similar system, he's had a few false indications as well.

PS, manual whats one of those?

so do you just press it or press and hold, I must admit I have not checked my tyre pressures so hopefully they set them correctly at the PDI.

I pressed and held, under the assumption when they designed it, they set it up so it didn't get reset if you just knocked it.
