Aircon

Between reading this post and the 2.0CR aircon post, it looks like me and Damo are buggered then, yes.

Mine is 2005, and looks like the pic in #2.

Also in reading climate readouts, 4fa  00.h

That is all I can get from the readouts, with engine running after pressing Econ & Recirc. If anyone can shed light, please do.

Cheers.

Well I know mine is buggered.  AC compressor seized this morning on the way to work, shredding the alternator belt.  Still managed to drive the remaining few miles to work on the battery, and then 30 miles (followed by RAC van carrying a spare battery, just in case) to my local garage to get fixed.  I'm expecting something of a hefty bill.  I was offered the option of a shorter belt, bypassing the compressor, but I like AC.  Shame the previous owner never used it, and never had the AC serviced, in something like eight years.

Mine is the clutchless type, my understanding is they use a swash-plate system to make it a variable-displacement compressor, they run all the time with the swash plate 'flat' and doing nothing, until the AC is turned on, when the swash plate tilts to start the compressor pumping.
