Modified and on Provisional

Featured Replies

So my insurance renewal has come through, at £370 for the year (Skoda Fabia vRS, coil overs, shark remap etc, non fault accident nearly 5 years ago and over 10 years NCB) which is roughly what I paid last year, though still £150 more than I was paying for an Audi TT a couple of years ago

My girlfriend will be starting driving lessons soon, she's just coming up 27 but has never learnt. So I called Adrian Flux and they quoted £5000 to add her to my insurance as basically they don't want to insure anyone on a provisional licence

Can anyone recommend a good company to use for a modified car that will also allow someone on a provisional licence, or at least not sting me too much when she passes her test

If I can't get it down to a reasonable level then it may be time to rethink selling the car again, just when l had decided to keep it

We don't need two cars though, it just seems a waste to get a car that will barely get used....plus I have nowhere to keep it

Try the post office got a policy for my daughter, ok its 10 year old fiesta but was only £780 fully comp with  me and wife as named drivers it will go up when she passes but i was happy with that and she is building her no claims.

Tbh I'm seriously considering putting my suspension back to standard and taking the remap off, then I open up a much wider choice of insurance companies and reduced premiums

Hi,

If you'd like to PM me your details I'd like to take a second look at this if you don't mind. We have a new scheme gone live in the last couple of days that caters for drivers over 23 on provisional licences which can run separately to your existing insurance policy.

Regards,

Dan.

My misses insurance went UP when she passed her test :-/

Yes, thats quiet normal once the learner becomes fully qualified. Suddenly they are an increased risk, the main reasons are that they can drive the car whenever they like and will be an inexperienced new driver who is now unsupervised so an increased risk.

Try Aviva Learner cover

Standard, I went from about £180 for 4 months learner up to £1400 iirc when I passed,

As it did when my brother passed, it doubled the premium!!!
