Buying/Selling Pt X Fabia Advice Pls

Featured Replies

Hi folks, looking at swapping my 2003 1.2 100k Fabia for a 2004 1.2 77k. Been quoted £400 with pt x, mine has rear door that doesn't open, few scuffs and tape around one of the internal door handles. Other has just had a new clutch. Pictures below. Just wondering any thought you guys might have, or any things to look out for. Or even if it's worth changing, as I figured my Skoda was approaching 100k, so made sense to replace. Any thoughts pls, pics below.

What is the reason for you wanting to change to the same make/model of car? What's the mechanical condition of you current car? - Is there anything coming up that's going to be expensive to replace?

People seem to get scared and think a car is past it once it reaches the triple figure mark, truth be told is if it's been looked after you'll probably get another 100k out of it! However if the new one looks to be in better condition and your happy paying the £400 to change then it's entirely up to you. I'd defiantly be having a good poke round the suspension components and checking everything out before doing the deal.

These models are pretty cheap to run and maintain. IMHO, with that money, you could get yours in a pretty mint condition (front end, suspension and steering components, transmission - clutch, gearbox, brakes, rear end suspension and brakes etc). If your car wasn't damaged in a collision, it's straight, doesn't show any rust and it runs well, I don't see any reasons for changing it.

Better the "devil you know" as they say. Stick with what you have unless it's about to go bang
