Boost and oil pressure gauges on a Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

I have got these gauges and needs some help.

I have joined boost one into the pipe to actuator and gauge only moves on the minus side??

Also can I tap into the single wire to pressure switch for reading of oil pressure?? As I can't use sandwich plate as paper filter not spin on

Thanks

Its a vacume actuator you need to tap into a boost pipe. you can get a t piece and join your pressure sender into the same point at the oil filter the original oil presure switch wont give pressure reading its only a switch that comes on at low pressure so will need a sender unit added in.

It goes to the minus because the pipe to the actuator is sucking and not blowing. It needs to be off the intercooler circuit. Usually people use their egr delete for the boost gauge.

Just seen a how to on here and put it on intercooler pipe cheers

Just need to work how to do oil pressure

I got a sender unit with gauge but don't know how and where to join it

Oil Pressure.

You need a tee piece to retain a working idiot light, because the gauge needs a different type of transducer that generates a variable current with pressure (electric gauge) or a capillary tube ('wet' gauge).

In the first case, you'll get a faint glow from the idiot light at all times if you use a gauge transducer to feed it.

wow a real understanding here of how a diesel engine setup works LMFAO!!

Not meaning to sound  harsh but if you've connected a boost gauge into the vacuum activated actuator line you really should not be messing about trying to wire in a oil pressure gauge, take the car to someone that knows what they are doing and take your tool kit back to Halfords for a refund! :)

Everybody needs to learn somewhere though no one was born with knowledge! I didn't/don't know much about Pulsars, never owned a petrol turbo car before but I learn more as I do more and ask more questions.

Some replies may appear out of context as this is merged from two topic postings.

Did you use the search function for basics on forums though?

As both the gauges mentioned above have bern fitted numerous times and I know for a fact the parts required to fit are in my project thread on here.

The thread of the factory oil pressure switch is M10 x 1, I'd think, so your t-piece needs one male and one female M10 x 1 thread, then whatever your sender needs as the third thread. Then you've just gotta hope that there's space around the area where the original switch lived for your t-piece with pressure switch and gauge sender screwed into it.

Oil pressure switch is usually fairly easy to find as it only tends to have a single wire going to it, most other sensors have more.

No there isn't room for a T piece to screw into oil switch hole, you need a hose from the original hole going a fitting which then houses your oil switch and your gauge sender.

Sorry bud but I didn't ask the question I was just making the point that we all are learning and none of us just woke up and suddenly knew what we needed to know, but at the same time it's no excuse because in today's age you can know anything you want if you look or ask the right questions..... Hence why this place exists.

Yeah but its not rocket science to use the search feature, it's there for exactly this reason.

Do you use it? :)
