RNS510 in fabia mk1?

Featured Replies

I know this topic may have been done to death but surely it's possible and someone out there has retrofitted the RNS510 headunit in the MK1 Fabia?

Picture attached showing current setup.

The picture you've put on is the MFD1 head unit, just if you didn't know.

More hassle than it's worth fitting a rns510

Yeah yeah just put up the picture to show the space the mfd1 takes up. When you say more hassle then it's worth, would you kindly elaborate on what you mean by this? Many thanks

The mk1 Fabia doesn't have the integrated CANBUS system like the Octavia mk2, so you'd have to faff getting it to physically work in the cars electrical system as it won't be just plug and play.

Then there is the "minor" issue of the unit actually being wider than the hole in the dash, so you'd have to start hacking apart the dashboard.

That's sums it up pretty well.

They are from the next generation of cars if you like.

Fabia technology is old compared to this and used ISO plugs, the RNS used quad lock plugs I'm sure. Aerials different as well.

So for all the hassle of actually getting it useable, you end up with a basic radio and need to do damage to the dashboard to get it to fit.

The alternative is to just buy a double din aftermarket radio that will have more features and pop straight in :)

LOOOOOOOOOL. No point then.

Cool, I'll just swap for a decent double din headunit. RNS510 isn't all that anyway.
